Frequently asked questions

How do I utilize my HSA and/or FSA benefits?

Mentology Matters accepts pre-tax Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA) funds for our behavioral wellness coaching, soul-care memberships, and growth pathways. Under IRS Section 213(d), health and wellness coaching qualifies as an eligible medical expense when utilized to prevent, manage, or alleviate stress, burnout, lifestyle-related conditions, or emotional fatigue.

You can access your benefits in two simple ways:

1) Pay Directly at Checkout: Enter your HSA or FSA debit card information just like a standard card during checkout or booking. (Note: Pre-tax accounts can cover eligible services for yourself, your spouse, or qualified dependents.)
2) Submit for Manual Reimbursement: If your plan requires documentation before authorizing funds, or if you prefer to use a personal credit card, complete checkout normally. Our system will automatically email you an itemized receipt with the required vendor and service details. You can submit this receipt directly through your HSA/FSA portal for full reimbursement.

A Note on Documentation (LMN):
Because coaching is classified as a dual-purpose wellness expense, some benefit administrators (such as Optum, HealthEquity, or WEX) may request a standard Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN). You can easily obtain an LMN from your primary care physician or via a quick online telehealth evaluation by having them note that behavioral coaching or stress management is recommended for your personal or relational health. Please retain your itemized receipts for your records.
